Top Three Black and White Movies to Enjoy in 2023

Black and white movies may not be as popular today as they were decades ago. You aren’t likely to find any major studios producing them in 2023. It’s interesting though how some films from a bygone era hold up so well today.

MOVIEWEB released a list of classic blank and white movies that still hold up long after their original release. Below are our top three.

To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill a Mocking Bird is not only a classic film, but before making it to the screen it was one of the most important 1960s books to hit shelves. The book was an instant success, and the film did it justice. In this incredible film, the story is truly the star and that is why it has endured for so long.

Psycho

During the ’50s and ’60s, there were few directors that came close to Alfred Hitchcock. His Films captured audiences like no one else. While he had many successes on the big and small screen, none are as immediately recognizable and more memorable than Psycho. All these years later, this one still manages to give us the chills.

Seven Samurai

This film from Japanese director Akira Kurosawa makes our list for its revolutionary film-making. The others on our list hold up today because of how great they are. Seven Samurai makes the cut for how it influenced other films. Without the groundbreaking film style and story development, we likely wouldn’t have many other classics that came after. George Lucas, for example, was famously influenced by Kurosawa. Without Seven Samurai, we may have never learned what happened “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.”
