“The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show” entertained audiences from 1950 to 1958. Their careers, however, started much earlier, and their influence lasted much longer. These two really do not get enough credit for what they brought to the industry. From classic vaudeville roots, they embraced radio and television and became a dominating force in entertainment.

The married couple had a perfect back-and-forth banter and incredible comedic timing. During the golden era of radio, they spread laughter throughout the country. When television set a new standard, the two expanded their reach to a new generation. “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show” became one of the decade’s most popular comedy shows. The pair’s comedy laid the groundwork for many of the tv comedies we have grown to love over the years.
